Hi, I’m James Hunt. I’m self-employed and live in Bristol with my partner but work 50 miles away in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. I didn’t want to commute, and I didn’t want the expense of renting in Cheltenham for five nights a week. I also spend some of the time working in London, so I wanted to find a more affordable and flexible solution.
With the help of a friend, I bought and customised a van, turning it into a comfortable mobile living and working space, and since 2013 what I call stealth van living has been an enjoyable part of my lifestyle during the working week.
I park overnight in different streets, have an early morning swim, do a bit of planning followed by breakfast at a favourite café then get fully into my work day – meeting clients and running my property, caravan and IT businesses.
